The Permian Basin is the highest producing oil and gas region in the United States. Current production levels are pushing transportation infrastructure beyond capacity, and the risks on the road have never been greater. Only around 1.5% of the population in Texas resides in the region, yet 5% of automobile accidents occur there, and serious accidents are on the increase. There were 93 fatalities on the Texas side of the Permian last year, up over 40% from 2012. Accidents in total are up about 20% in 2018 vs 2017.
Cartasite currently has over 30 customers with over 2500 drivers traveling through the region on a daily basis which has produced a ton of data which we’d like to further analyze to help reduce risk in the area. Road safety is critical for the families that live and work in the Permian Basin Region.
Cartasite is asking for participation from customers in the region to participate with Cartasite to analyze ROVR data as well as MVI data in order to find high risk areas with the shared goal of reducing risk on the road. There are many ways we can tackle the issue together, but we need your help to make this project a success.
Phase 1 – We are looking for participants to share MVI data along side your ROVR data. We will use this along with public data to look for patterns of high risk along the roads in the region.
Phase 2 – Add attribute data to the study including weather, journey hours, time of day, duration of trip, driver attributes and vehicle attributes.
Phase 3 – Analysis and presentation for all participants. A committee will be formed to discuss how to best use the data going forward.
If you’re interested in participating, please fill out the form below and we’ll be in contact with you shortly. The projects anticipated timeline is 4-6 months to complete. Again, we welcome all feedback, please feel free to add any critical data and areas of interest for consideration.
